This is an old, old recipe. I had to dig it out of my cookbooks to find it as I hadn’t made them in a while. I mentioned them the other day in my Fried Coating recipe so thought I’d dig into the wayback machine and find it :).
Servings=about 12 chews
1/4 cup Unflavored Whey Protein
1 tbsp. butter, melted
1/4 tsp citric acid
1.5 tbsp. water
3 tbsp. sweetener
1 tsp of flavored extract (berry, citrus)
couple of drops of food coloring
Whisk all the wet together. Whisk in stevia and citric acid. Add the protein powder. Mix and fold until all combined. Should have be a firm mess :). Pull out the powdery mass and kneed with your hands until smooth. Should be a little oily but not sticky. Form into a log. Yes, it’s supposed to be greasy, no fear, that will go away. Put the greasy block in the fridge for 15 minutes. Remove. Slice to thickness. Enjoy.
