Going keto changes your habits a bit. For one, plan to have an active bladder for a while. By eliminating carbs, you also get your body to realize that it doesn’t need to hold onto as much water. You know what that means? Yup. Be prepare to pee. Now, you could drink less but then you run into the risk of dehydration – not cool in case you were wondering. Another thing that not only is vital for humans but will also help with regulating weight, sleeping better, and constipation is to make sure you are getting enough magnesium and potassium. As it is, most Americans don’t get enough of either. The best way to get both is through whole foods, but it doesn’t hurt to give nature a little help.

You could go out and buy special drinks and waters for a couple of bucks each that may or may not have what they say on the label and probably do have things you don’t want on the label…or…you can make your own. Easily. Very easily. Here’s what you need:

  • a gallon jug (old milk or juice jug washed out is perfect)
  • Morton Light Salt – potassium chloride
  • Baking soda
  • Lemon juice concentrate (or steep 3-4 bags of your favorite berry herbal tea)
  • Your favorite non-sugar sweetener (I swear by Stevia)

Take your jug. Pour in 1/2 cup of the concentrate, 1/2 tsp baking soda and 1 tsp of the Light Salt. Add water until just about full. Shake to mix. Test the taste, then add sweetener to your liking. For me, that is about 1/4 cup granulated Stevia. BANG. A healthy, electrolyte drink that costs pennies per gallon and tastes good!!

Hey, if you read this and like it, feel free to give me some feedback in the comments. I’d love to hear from everyone on what they think of my ‘creations.’ If you have questions, ask! If you hate them, tell me 🙂. If you do your own tweaks, let me know, I love to learn new things!!
